Thursday, January 28, 1999 Tokyo Firm To Build Global Network Of Venture Assistants TOKYO (Nikkei)–Japan Consulting International (JCI) Inc. plans to set up an international venture-assisting network in April to link venture-assisting firms in six domestic and 25 foreign cities, mainly in the U.S. and Europe. Japan Consulting International Group (JCIG) is intended to help link all venture companies, not just Japanese firms, to move into overseas markets, JCI officials said. The Tokyo-based company will invite mainly smaller business consultancies to join the network. It has already selected seven of the 31 network component cities, having secured participation by Kondo Consulting L.L.P. of Houston and Hattori & Associates Inc. of Los Angeles. Network members will pay no membership fees to exchange information online, the officials said. JCIG will gather information on overseas markets, including possible business partners, buyers and investors, for introduction to venture concerns. Network members may provide management guidance to venture firms when they set up offices outside their own markets, the officials said.
