Take the Eurostar to London, from there a typical ticket costs about $500 Canadian. — Best Regards, Steve

VistaJet is the newest "cut rate" Canadian airline, which hasn’t officially started business yet. They lease an old B737, and have plans to lease one more. I believe they plan to start operations in May flying between Ottawa, Toronto, London (Ont) and Windsor. Flying to Detroit in order to get from Brussels to Toronto makes no sense. There are at least as many inexpensive flights directly into Toronto from the Benelux countries as there are to Detroit – and quite possibly more. The connection from Detroit to Windsor airports would be anything but simple.  It would be much wiser and simpler to take the advice of the previous poster who suggested getting a ticket on a direct charter flight with Air Transat from Brussels to Toronto.  There are also direct flights from Amsterdam and Paris at least daily.  BA might have a competitive fare via LHR.  Bucket shops in London sell cheap seats from London to Toronto for about UKP 200 – 250, depending on the season. — Lawrence Segal Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA

Detroit, MI is a NW hub.  Try for tix from BRU to DTW.  VistaJet has just announced $50 RT service from Windsor, ON to Toronto, ON.  Now the tricky part — getting from DTW, across the border, to the Windsor airport.  Detroit has lousy public transportation, but there should be a bus (either SMART or DOT) to downtown Detroit.  Then you could take the tunnel bus to Windsor and a Windsor bus to the airport.  Very complicated and exhausting, but you wanted cheap. MMM — My opinions are my own.  Your mileage may vary. Thank you for playing, we have some lovely parting gifts for you. Note:  Do not use the email address listed above to reply.

Air Transat flies non-stop from BRU to YYZ weekly (I think on Thursdays). The flight is a scheduled charter, not ideal in terms of comfort, but that should be your best option. I believe their agent is AviaSales Blvd Lemonnier, 129 – 131 1000 Brussels 02 513 60 67 / 62 06 / 65 28 02 502 41 46 / 44 75 Sorry about so many phone numbers. That’s all the numbers I have and my listing doesn’t say which one is for pax, which for customer airlines. Just give them a try… Eric LH BRU
