Not if you get the new foot inserts for clipless pedals that they can attach directly to the sole of your foot. I think that Shimano is making it. The problem is that it is a permanent attachment, so you have to get shoes from them with an recess on the inside. Shimano plans on taking over the shoe business in all areas.
