funny thing is, there’s two sides to a story, and the person who got fired, couldn’t prove where he was on the days he was off. he claimed to be doing reserve duty, but couldn’t prove it! punch

Reservist’s family gaining support IRWIN M. GOLDBERG Tucson Citizen March 18, 2003 http://www.tucsoncitizen.com/business/3_18_03pep_boys.html Allegations that Pep Boys wrongfully terminated a U.S. Navy reservist from Tucson have brought expressions of support for the man’s family from across the country. The Tucson Citizen received more than 30 e-mails expressing concern and a desire to help the family of Erik Balodis with monetary contributions. According to the federal lawsuit filed by Tucson attorney Andrea Watters, Balodis was terminated by the company after he reported for reserve duty in June 2002. Erik Balodis was out of work for five months. In February the family filed for bankruptcy and sold its house because it could no longer make payments. Kathy Balodis said plans to purchase a mobile home have been delayed because the bank will not grant a loan because of the bankruptcy filing, even with her parents co-signing. Petty Officer Balodis is stationed in South Korea. ——- cut —— Pep Boys Statement Regarding Military Leave http://www.pepboys.com/statement.html March 17, 2003 Service to our nation is paramount to Pep Boys.
