That isn’t the point, it was reported over here that there was an unusual police presence around the polling stations in the ‘black’ areas of the States. It can only be for one purpose – intimidation and discouragement from voting. It is a tactic which was used in S.Africa during the Aparteid days. Even in ‘Liberal’ Britain, the chances of being stopped and searched are about 6 times higher if you are young and black. — Gordon

I used to pick up old and poor folk to take them to vote, but hopefully most of them get postal voting forms. Some of the most disadvantaged people were virtually disenfranchised until this was made easier. Ten, twenty years ago there were always plenty of limos around taking the Conservatives to vote. It’s a slightly more even playing field now. — Gordon

One would think that with the advent of the absentee ballot, anyone who wants to vote can vote.
