Question:
I have ordered mine from Sandscripts too. We ordered them early to get in on the September Special — they had one we really liked for 20% off through the end of September, so we went ahead and ordered even though it’s a year away… Suzanne was really really nice when I talked to her on the phone. I’ve already seen my finished invitations (they scan them and put them on the web so you can see the finished product even before they send it to you) — they look great! I can’t wait to get them; they should be arriving any day now. Andrea (& Nathan — 13 September 1997)
: We’re ordering out invitations from SandScripts which is an online : invitation service at http://www.sandscripts.com and : want in an invite and Suzanne and Ray do all the work of finding several : invites that meet your criteria! The number for Rexcraft is 1-800-635-4653. They had our invitations cheaper than anyone else. However we are ordering our place cards as well as our thank you notes from Willow Tree Lane (1-800-219-1022), that is ONLY if the samples match in color. Joyce and Seth April 10, 1997

Chris & I are having them made by his best man. He’s a graphic artist and used to work for a card company that was commissioned for wedding invites all the time. It was great fun. We went over to his house, cracked open a beer, and thumbed through a box of examples of invites he had done in the past. Some were so magnificent. I saw one that was black (almost a cardboard type strength) with a block of gold paper, and then a block of white paper with the wording on it. It was very classy, and was for a new year’s eve wedding. Chris & I ended up with a vertical 5×7 invite on hunter green woven paper, with a white paper glued in the middle with the wording. The white paper has flecks of gold & silver, and very light silky white streaks in it. Beautiful! The font is going to be Upper East Side, and the ink will be dark red. We will then hand tear the edges of the paper and glue on a Hunter Stewart tartan trim. God, I could go on about this forever, but I’ll spare you from the description of the envelopes, response cards, announcements and thank you cards! I’m just so excited. Wow, a wedding in Sedona! That’ll be spectacular — good for you!! As for our invites, I’m *really* lucky to have a good friend who is a graphic designer. She recently did the invitations for my brother and his new wife (also a friend of hers), and they were GREAT — unlike anything I’d ever seen before. I can’t wait to see what she’s doing for us. I’ve always thought she has just the right combination of an eye for design (obviously, that’s what she does) and a great sense of humor — just enough to add a clever twist to her work. It’s especially nice to have someone that knows us well design the invitations, since it will be a one of a kind item. The working idea is some kind of rebus, or word puzzle, with our names. There will also be tiny little graphics woven in with the text. That’s all I know so far ! The "catch" is twofold: the price won’t be cheap, even with the freebie design work. We still have to pay for the printing, stock, etc. My friend usually works with a printer in NYC who, while doing excellent work, is kind of a space shot about timing and delivery. So I’m already nervous, and the wedding is still months away! But we’ll work together to get it done early, to allow for any slippage. (For once, my product management skills pay off!) Anyway, it’s one of the BEST parts of our plans, so far, and makes me very happy just writing about it! -Lucy (& Jason 6/7/97) – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – >Now that the date is drawing nearer I decided I probably need to get >invitations. Joey, I ordered 100 invitations with lined inner envelopes and response postcards with colored ink and return addresses for no more than $100 from Invitations Etc., a mail order catalog. Joey, I just ordered my invitations from The American Wedding Album catalog. We ordered 325 invitations, 325 respond cards, 250 informals, and 400 napkins for just barely over $400. I looked at several catalogs, and this one seemed to have the best prices. Some invitations were close to 50% off what I saw in other catalogs. I hope this helps. Hi Joey- Scot and I decided in our minds what we wanted the invitations to look like, hand-selected paper, commissioned an artist to do a border and the calligraphy, and had them printed at a local print shop. They’re 5"x7" all cotton, felt finish antique white cards with a somewhat intricate metallic gold border (like a frame). The calligraphed wording is centered with in the frame. I’m quite pleased with the way they turned out! The total cost for 250 invitations (cards and envelopes), 250 reply cards, an embossing stamp and all of the artwork was right at $400. And, fortunately, we still have extra card stock left over for other wedding-related projects. -Leslie
