HELP! Replacing S4 brake pads…I'm stuck!

Question:

>>>When I insert the hex key, it seems like there is nothing >>to turn (i.e. the hex key doesn’t seat into a bolt head). >I believe those are actually Torx head bolts… >Ah…any idea on size?

Don’t you have an inspection mirror, so you can see whether they’re allen or Torx? They’re allen on a 1997 A4, if that counts. :)

I’m sure they aren’t allen at this point.  I tried every metric size allen wrench in the set from 8mm down… I’m going to get back in there with a Torx set after work today before I punt… Thanks!  =) Elroy 2000 S4

Greetings, I’ve removed the wheel and the spring clip.  I’ve found the black cap on the upper and lower sections of the calipers and I pulled the caps off.  AudiWorld seems to indicate that I need a 7mm hex key to remove a couple of bolts under the caps to separate the calipers and get to the pads.  When I insert the hex key, it seems like there is nothing to turn (i.e. the hex key doesn’t seat into a bolt head).  What am I doing wrong?  I’ve tried different sized hex keys to no avail. TIA!!! Elroy 2000 S4

I believe those are actually Torx head bolts…

Jeez Elroy, I figured you aren’t bright , I did not realize you are that stupid and that cheap. And you, stinkyhead, had audacity to talk to me about WalMart University and lecture me on giving a break to small business owners. Now you fucked up, you are obviously clueless and have no idea what you are doing, so you are here to get a freebie from the small business owners you care so much about. Hire a mechanic to do what you are obviously not qualified to do. It does require intelligence to fix cars. Call you roommate’s uncle for christ sake, he’ll give you a discount.

Ah…any idea on size? Elroy

Response:

>Jeez Elroy, I figured you aren’t bright , I did not realize you are that >stupid and that cheap.

I give no credence to your opinion of my cognative abilites. >And you, stinkyhead, had audacity to talk to me about >WalMart University and lecture me on giving a break to small business >owners.

Sure did, and I stand by every word. >Now you fucked up, you are obviously clueless and have no idea what you are >doing, so you are here to get a freebie from the small business owners you >care so much about.

No.  No fuck ups.  I drove it around tonight after I put it back together.  I was smart enough to know when to stop, admit I was in over my head and ask for help…obviously a lesson in life you have yet to learn. >Hire a mechanic to do what you are obviously not qualified to do. It does >require intelligence to fix cars. Call you roommate’s uncle for christ sake, >he’ll give you a discount.

At least I’m man enough to try to learn to do things, instead of jipping other people who would do the work for me.  For your information, if I can’t get it done within the next few days, I will call him.  I won’t ask for a discount either.  He deserves to make a living too. Now grow up D O G…and place a bandage over your wounded ego.
