Can’t tell you about other companies but the Ford warranties are all negotiable regardless of what the dealer tells you. Some people have said that you need to negotiate the price of the warranty while doing the car. If you have already finished the deal on the car and are signing the papers they are less likely to deal on the warranty. This does not get into the discussion of whether you SHOULD get a warranty. You can find that discussion on dejanews. Reminder to all: If you buy a vehicle and sell it before the extended warranty is up, don’t forget to get a refund on the unused portion of the warranty. — Did you ever notice? We bought a new ford f250 truck this spring and got a lincoln warranty at a much cheaper price than the ford price, and I am quite sure it is serviced at your ford dealer. Brow beat your sales person. Theresa

This IS NOT a Ford Motor Company backed Extended Service Plan. The coverage levels offered by Ford backed plans are as follows: MaintenanceCare—this plan covers factory recommended maintenance per your maintenance schedule PowertrainCare–this plan covers engine, transmission, drivetrain related components ExtraCare–this plan covers all of the components in the PowertrainCare plan + some additional high expense repair items i.e. A/C compressor, alternator, starter, etc.  This plan covers 83 components PremiumCare–this plan is Ford Motor Company’s best coverage plan it covers 500+ components Please save yourself some grief in the future and purchase a Ford Motor Company backed plan.  It will ensure that quality Ford Motor Company parts are used in the repair of your vehicle.  Many of the aftermarket plans don’t cover items such as leaking gaskets or what they call wearable items like crankshaft bearings.  I ran across one plan that covers BROKEN headgaskets but, will not cover a leaking head gasket.  I have worked in the automobile service business for 9 years and I don’t ever recall seeing a BROKEN gasket although I have seen many that leak. If you had purchased a Toyota, I would encourage to buy the extended service contract that it backed by Toyota instead of an aftermarket plan.  Any questions, please e-mail me.
