Cruises with no Single Suppliment

Holland America also has a share program. I’ve tried it 3 times – one was great, one so-so and one a disaster – never again. Silversea has a 110% supplement on many cruises, "cheap" (yeah, right, cheap on Silversea = exorbitant on others) cabins. I think the Norway also has single cabins (actually more like closets).

Thanks for updating us on Royal Olympic.  Actually, I saw your post about RO after doing my post, but I was too lazy to cancel and repost. I hope Royal Olympic survives.  At least I really enjoyed my cruise with them on the, I think, now retired Stella Solaris.

If you want to chance it, Carnival and Windjammer have "guaranteed share" available, or at least they did a couple years ago.  So does Royal Olympic, though they may have gone out of business by now.

Hi Leonard, The QE2 has single cabins.  Some of the popular priced cruise lines have been running single specials.  The luxury cruise lines often have single cabins available at very little premium.  I suggest that you contact a travel agent that specializes in cruises for some guidance. Radisson used to, still may.   Does anyone know of a web site that lists cruises that don’t have a   single suppliment?   Thanks,   Leonard

Response:

Leonard: Many times it is just cheaper to book the luxury lines if you prefer outside or premium accomodations. I’m in the process now of booking a 9-night Silversea’s cruise for less money(cruise only) than comparable accommodations would cost me on Celebrity’s Horizon.  And Silversea is all inclusive.  Really all inclusive. Carnival sells their Cat 1A at reasonable prices for singles.  If a cruise is not selling well, Celebrity will reduce the single supplement to 150%. Sometimes RCL as well.  Princess and HAL vary on their supplements depending on category and itinerary.  140-200%. Babette

Response:

Only booked ’single’ once on Carnival and paid 150% of double rate. That wasn’t too bad. Other lines you will be looking at 200% for single berth! Was ok had a minimum standard inside category, but for one person was fine! Len… :-)

Babette, Will you adopt me?  I live vicariously through you and all the cruises you enjoy! I’m done for 2002…but have 2 planned for 2003 :) Linda
