AA to Offer "Shuttle" BOS-EWR

Question:

> Monday December 11, 11:50 am Eastern Time > American Eagle To Offer Shuttle > BOSTON (AP) — American Eagle airlines plans to offer seven nonstop flights > a day between Boston and Newark, N.J., starting Jan. 31. > American Eagle, the northeast affiliate of American Airlines, will have a > shuttle-style schedule with flights departing from Logan International > Airport and Newark every two hours from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

As with the ongoing Boeing thread, another case of the young whippersnappers having no sense of (airline) history! They should, of course, have tagged the new service "American Eagle Jet Express".  If only they were using BAC-111s… ;-) Before you buy.

Monday December 11, 11:50 am Eastern Time American Eagle To Offer Shuttle BOSTON (AP) — American Eagle airlines plans to offer seven nonstop flights a day between Boston and Newark, N.J., starting Jan. 31. American Eagle, the northeast affiliate of American Airlines, will have a shuttle-style schedule with flights departing from Logan International Airport and Newark every two hours from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. The new service is in addition to eight existing American Eagle and American Airlines flights between Boston and New York’s Kennedy Airport. “There is considerable demand for additional service between Boston and the New York metropolitan area, and customers enjoy having a choice of airports,” said Tom Bacon, American Eagle’s senior vice president for marketing and planning. The new flights will be on the 37-seat Embraer ERJ-135 jets. http://biz.yahoo.com/apf/001211/american_e.html This makes no business sense to me.  With all the ATC delays in that area, how could AA make such a route with such small capacity profitable?  Neither EWR nor BOS is an AA hub.  And what makes this a "shuttle-style schedule?" That’s not exactly high frequency.
