Worthwhile newsgroups

Question:

>   Can anyone advise of any worthwhile marketing news groups to subcribe to ?

misc.business.consulting misc.entrepeneurs.moderated and, of course, misc.business.marketing.moderated All three of these are moderated. Subscribing to an unmoderated business group is like hitting yourself repeatedly in the head with a ball-peen hammer. —    — ADirect – Advertising * Direct Mail * Interactive Media — "And so he says I don’t like the cut of your jib. I have put together a small list of email lists and newsgroups targeted to those interested in brand marketing.  Also included are links to other marketing lists. http://www.oklahoma.net/~rwirth/newsgrp.html — Ross Wirth I-Brand Central; Brand Marketing on the Internet

Ian, according to my headers you posted this twice, so i guess you really want to know. (Incidentally, the reason you didn’t see it straight away is that this group is moderated, which puts a delay between posting and appearing – a small price to pay for a quality threshold) And second time around you gave us a clue (There are nn,000 newsgroups, all presumably fulfilling a function for someone) so i shall try and help. For marketing, this is the place to be. There is currently a proposal to establish a new newsgroup to address issues relating to marketing on the Internet (RFD: misc.business.marketing.on-internet moderated) so that may be relevant to what you need too. Here on m.b.m.m. you can hang around watching the threads develop, or jump in a and start one yourself (preferably after reading the faq). There’s a bunch of background stuff available at http://www.nijenrode.nl/mbmm/ if you have web access. If you take that approach, it’s very useful to everyone if you identify the issue you want to discuss, then add some background relating to you and what has brought you to the issues in question.
