John, Didn’t I read that you are a college student, working as TA part-time to supplement your income.  If so, what do you mean by long term relationship? What do you plan to do after you graduate? Just curious. Chris

Spam is defined as unsolicited commercial email or newsgroup posting.  I think the bulk aspect is implied, but not required to fit the definition.   – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > just my .2, but I also thought SPAM was bulk mailings, and I also > received the same email from John. I subscribe to an interesting philosophy that John is an example of. You can "want" something so much it gets in the way of your "having" that something. John wants business so badly he doesn’t think about ethics and he doesn’t get the business. Doesn’t get the philosophy either. Carole

They asked about the weather in Bermuda. They did not request solicitations. Harvesting newsgroups and sending out unsolicited commercial e-mail is called spamming.

John, So it’s against the charter to send unsolicited e-mail but not against your so-called "ethics" to harvest e-mails from the group for the express purpose of sending spam. Hi, The weather is nice in June and basically June/July is the peak season.  The Pacific Princess is an older smaller ship so the entertainment will be weak and not as extravagant as the newer ships.  She was the original loveboat. The only positive is she hits all 3 ports.  You might consider a newer ship on Celebrity or RCCL. You can find some reviews on it on my website at http://www.cruisereview.net I am a travel agent that specializes in cruises.  We are members of the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and I am an experienced cruise counselor. Can I get you a quote so you can compare how low my rates are? I would love the opportunity to help plan your next vacation. Any more questions, feel free to ask.  I really want to earn your business. We monitor the rates monthly, and will adjust your rate lower if it drops.  Most TA’s do not do it because they will reduce their own commission when the price drops. If you give me more details on the sailing date, I would be glad to get you a quote. I provide personal service that large discount agencies cannot because they are just order takers and are not knowledgable about the product they sell. The reason I can do it is because I discount from my own commission.  I believe in establishing a long term relationship that you can value and trust instead of a one time deal.  That way, I get repeat business and hopefully referrals too. I want every customer to be satisfied. We treat and price your cruise as if we were going ourselves. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Hello all, > We are considering a cruise on the Pacific Princess in the early part of > June 2001.  I have searched around for some reviews but they are kind of > scarce.  Would anyone here have the experience of Bermuda this time of > year.  Is the weather reasonably nice and is the ocean warm enough for a > swim? > I understand there is not a lot of on board entertainment during the > three days in Bermuda.  Is there enough to do while in port, especially > during the evenings? > I’m sure I’ll have more questions for the group but these will do for > now. > Thanks, > Lola in Hamilton

I posted an inquiry to rtc about the weather in Bermuda.  This is the e-mail reply I received from John Szeto.  Is this young man never going to learn?

[ Bermuda.txt 2K ]

Excuse me John, but in my opinion you did.  I did not request your services nor would I ever use them considering your methods.  This newsgroup has been through this time and time again and you never seem to learn.  If you feel you did nothing wrong, why didn’t you post your reply to the newsgroup like everyone else?  Why did you take the liberty of sending me e-mail to me and not posting to the newsgroup.  As far as I’m concerned, I would never do business with someone of your ethics.  You can argue this until you are blue in the face but I think that most here will agree with me on this matter. They asked about the weather in Bermuda. They did not request solicitations. Harvesting newsgroups and sending out unsolicited commercial e-mail is called spamming.

Response:

John, So it’s against the charter to send unsolicited e-mail but not against your so-called "ethics" to harvest e-mails from the group for the express purpose of sending spam. Silly me not to have understood this in the first place. I subscribe to an interesting philosophy that John is an example of. You can "want" something so much it gets in the way of your "having" that something. John wants business so badly he doesn’t think about ethics and he doesn’t get the business. Doesn’t get the philosophy either. Carole
