Clariifying my direction….
Question:
I’m glad I found this group!!! I will try to keep this brief. I have an MBA and 8+ years experience in DP working with varied architectures and layers of archietcures, (mainframe, midlleware, lan/wan, gui tools, gui app development). Anyway, I have an excellent understanding of architectures and the systems of business from big pictures (i.e. market structures, organizanizational structures) to more finite areas (i.e. unit processes, inventory, claims handling) and management. I am currently a DP contractor but would like to get more into business/systems consulting (I call it business system architecture) . Can anyone give me information as to what a position like this may be called? so many companies have different names for similar positions. Also, where is a good place to start?

Al, I know how you feel, I felt the same way. What I found was that most contracting firms don’t care about your abilities just about placing you. The kind of work it sounds like your looking for is Project Management and/or Systems Integrator. I have found a niche as a Project Manager that specilizes in negotiating for large companies in the area of computers. It seems that you have to actually get your foot in the door as a project manager and then you have to sell your self to the company your at. Hope that helps. Ron W.
