Business Plans

Question:

> Hello John, > I suggest you keep in mind your audience when looking for sample business > plans. > Business plans often have two major functions:

You missed why I use them, even if all I am doing is starting a major project. The plan forces you to define the business opportunity, its risks and rewards. It makes you evaluate all of your options and review the circumstances that you proposed it under. If you properly do a competitive analysis you will also be able to see where you have opportunities, or where you don’t as the case may be. In every new project I tackle I use a business plan. I like BizPlan Builder as it takes a portion of the drudgery out of the process. But most of all it also requires me to follow a set formula that asks the right questions. Before I take on a consulting job I ask to see a business plan or a project plan. If there isn’t one, I don’t take the job. jmi "Technology is great, and hot technology is cool, but if you can’t make money with it, it isn’t worth squat." – Me "Charter & Posting Guidelines" and "The FAQ" Available at these fine places: your news server,                       www.dejanews.com ,                           www.dakine.demon.nl/mbmm/ PLEASE, reduce quoted text to essential when replying. Hello John, I suggest you keep in mind your audience when looking for sample business plans. Business plans often have two major functions: 1. Used for marketing your project to prospects who may fund you (ideally you should have an executive summary version of your full plan outlining concept and potential financial reward). 2. Provide detailed information for showing how you will carry the project through to completion (project viability). The key point I wanted to make is to suggest you first take some time to better understand what your intended prospects for plan are looking for. J.P.
