Two more…. almost.
Question:
Ok, so I’m sitting at home tonight instead of on some piercer’s table. I had planned on going out and getting pierce number 2 and 3 tonight, but alas my softball game ran into extra innings and after I rushed home many miles over the speed limit, I dialed the piercing studio I wanted to go to only to find the piercer had just left. :( Ok, he’s the owner and a nice guy and all, but I don’t know how anyone can run a business (he’s the only piercer) when he leaves hours before the store closes. Sorry, I shouldn’t complain, I’m just upset because I’ve been anticipating this day all week and now I missed it. So then I pulled out the phone book and looked up body piercing and tattoo only to find most stores close at 8:00 and since it was a few minutes after 8:00 I missed out. Why do these stores close so early? I’d imagine a lot of business would come in between 8 and midnight, after dinner and when most people are not working, but what do I know about running a business, let alone a piercing studio… I was planning on getting my tongue and navel pierced this time around. I wanted to get it tonight because this way I would have a 3 day weekend to take care of the pierce in it’s first few very important days, and talking could be at it’s minium. Tomorrow I have work, but was willing to take the chance that no one would notice the lisp if I ended up getting one (a lisp, that is. I AM getting a tougue pierce.). Beside, I had no meetings scheduled and wouldn’t have to do much talking anyway other than the occasional phone call. So tomorrow after work (might even leave a few minutes early… shhh!) I’m driving directly to the piercer and sitting on his comfy couch browsing through tattoo magazines all day until they close if I have to and getting these pierces. I’m not living through another day without two more pieces of metal in my body. Sorry for the rant. I too upset to sleep. __o _`<,_ — Dave Thangyuh. Thangyuh vurry mudge. . . . Honestly, if he’s the owner, I can understand wanting to leave a bit early occasionally. Being the only piercer, quite often you’ll be at work every day, at least five days a week, often opening up around 11am, sticking around til 8 ( at least)… It can be quite a drain, and when an appointment doesn’t show (or even call), it can be quite a disappointment and put you off. I used to leave up to an hour early, since our last piercing would start no later than an hour before close (giving us time to clean up, not rush the procedure, do ca$h, etc). If noone was around and all the work was done, we’d bail. I couldn’t imagine what it would’ve been like having to be at the store for over nine hours a day. I would’ve been in no condition to pierce, for certain! As for not staying open later, think about the kindov business you’d mostly see after 8: Mostly drunks. Not the kindov clientele you really want to deal with! >So tomorrow after work (might even leave a few minutes early… >shhh!) It really sucks when plans fall through. There’ve been times when I’ve been on either side ov the needle, and it hurts when you can’t get what you’ve been looking forward to… But it *is* so much sweeter for the wait! Umm.. if you were a piercer, would you want to have to stay at your shop until midnight?? My piercer is always tired after a long day of piercing, and potential business or no, he wouldn’t stay that late. —- "How long a minute is depends on what side of the bathroom door you’re on." | ~o~o~o~o~o~o~ Semaj the $piceman ~o~o~o~o~o~o~ | | "Follow me into the desert, as thirsty as you are…" — Soundgarden |

Yes, that makes sense. I just re-read my original post and it came out much harsher than I really wanted it to. I wanted it to say I was upset that I could not get pierced that evening and explain the reasons why. I am no way putting down piercers. I have great respect for them. Like I said, I have no knowledge how to run a business, especially a piercing studio. That’s why I’m just a collector. Just wanted to clear this up so people don’t think I’m a bitter mean person. __o _`<,_ — Dave Thangyuh. Thangyuh vurry mudge. . . . (*)/ (*) Bermuda likes my sig!!! Bermuda likes my sig!!! I made it to the piercer on Friday. I went ahead and got the two pierces as planned. I was really surprised at how smooth these two went. Kenny, the piercer, did my navel first. I was looking for a curved barbell but he was out so I went with a teardrop one instead. I’m happier with this one now I think. It’s this strange color that seems to pick up any color light. I barely felt anything. It’s weird, because it never hurt and feels like it healed seconds after it was done. Every once in a while I have to lift up my shirt to make sure it was really done. Maybe it’s psychological because I wasn’t nervous about that one. I was more worried about the tongue. But, also to my surprise, this one did not hurt much either. In fact, Kenny told me it was one of the smoothest pierces he has done on the tongue. He wouldn’t be surprised if I get little or no swelling. Well, 24 hours later, I still have no swelling. The pierce hurt for the rest of the night and a bit this morning but now it’s ok. It only starts to hurt when I eat. OUCH! or when my mouth dries out. Since I sleep with my mouth open, this happened last night. I keep two squeeze bottles around. One with water, and one with dialuted listerine. I had a little adventure this morning trying to swallow my allergy pill. I popped the pill in my mouth and, like magic, it decided to hide beneath my tongue where I couldn’t reach it. Took many mouthfulls of water to get that baby down. I noticed a little lisp in my speaking. I’ve been trying not to talk or play with the barbell to speed the healing process, and so far no one else has noticed the lisp. __o _`<,_ — Dave Thangyuh. Thangyuh vurry mudge. . . . I think they close so early because independant stores always close early, stores such as piercers, tattooers, etc. ummm. yeah. ok, bye.
