I don’t know about the situation there in the UK, but here in the US, we have organizations geared to promoting businesses and their interests. Called Chambers of Commerce, which help with networking functions. I went to one last week, for three hours and made two or three possible sales. If they have anything similar, where you are, they can be useful in the long run. :Any advice would be very much appreciated. Well nothing new and none of it’s rocket science. The stuff you wrote, and its all process, is vital. There are some other things but I wonder if you have the time. If you stuck for time I would suggest outsourcing some of the more mundane items. I have included items below. > Being a very new marketeer, my role has developed more substantially > over the last few months. Having never done any form of markeitng > before my role has consisted of the following: > Mail shot with our newsletter every quarter
- Include Case Studies with photo’s > Fortnightly mail shots to particular industries
- Segment them by user profile and change the messages. > Mail out to news articles relevent to Career Management and Outplacement
- Use your Case Studies. > Read HR magazines see whats going on etc
- Also use a Cuttings Service. (about $60 p month) > Follow up the mail outs with phone calls to try to get an appointment
-If that was the objective of the mailshot. You will find that good telesales people can get you appointments without mailshots. You can outsource this but it may be expensive. Good quality appointments will cost around $375 each. > Web site developed and registered with search engines, visited relevant > groups & posted > Started an advertising campaign in Personnel Today
- Why 1. Do you have a plan? 2. If you could have just one of the above, which would it be and why? Focus attention on it. I suspect it’s lead generation. Work out your metrics. How many salespeople to keep happy with leads. How many per week do they need to make their targets (different for each rep!!). How are you going to get them. If you solve this problem, all other things will happen. If the business fails through lack of leads then it is all immaterial! 3. If leads aren’t the problem, there are other things to do: i) Trade Shows ii) Seminars iii) Partnerships with other companies who influence your sector. iv) Find the key five people who talk at the industry conferences. Make them your friend. v) Make friends with the editor of the most influential trade magazines. Supply them with gossip and issue stories. vi) Get all your customers together regularly and sell to them. vii) and 100 other things that will make a difference. Question everything you do, what difference will it make if you don’t do it! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Is there anything that I have missed out, is there anything more I could > do, surely there must be more to marketing our services than mailshots > and the telephone? > Any advice would be very much appreciated. > — > julie wilson > http://www.career.lhh.co.uk/career/ > Lee Hecht Harrison Career Management & Outplacement Consultants
