I am working on a thesis for an MBA, concerned with supply-chain-manageme= nt issues in the chemicals industry (covering mainly Europe and the USA). Is anyone out there aware of empirical studies that have been carried out, p= erhaps by any of the large chemicals companies=92 sales / marketing departments,=  into the effectiveness of their sales operation? Or by purchasing departments = of large buyers of chemicals products from chemicals companies, into the effectiveness of their purchasing operation? Or by business consultants interested in seller-buyer relationships / supply-chain issues in the che= micals industry? Or by marketing research agencies? Or by other industry =91insi= ders=92, such as trade magazines or trade associations? Any hints where I might find the following would be greatly appreciated:- – empirical studies (or background info) documenting practices / changes = in the buyer-seller relationship or=20 – empirical data or statistical material documenting / benchmarking sales effectiveness, such as: –sales / marketing systems / strategies of large chemicals companies –sales / marketing cost per unit of sales (and by product / by region) –breakdown of sales / marketing costs, e.g. —wage costs —commission payments —other costs –expenditure and effectiveness of promotional activity –related issues I am happy to share my findings with anyone who has contributed useful information (subject to any confidentiality agreements I have entered int= o).
