Response rates
Question:
Hi Glenn The 64,000 dollar question. It’s impossible to estimate response rates with any meaningful accuracy, because nobody knows. You can only do that by testing. Have you thought about direct mail targeting the right prospects. Because you can do small inexpensive tests and find out all sorts of information fast. Response:
I work in marketing for a company that makes business software. I’m looking at marketing this low-cost (under $500) software product through a mid-sized trade publication through a small ad or a business reply card, but I need a rough estimate of my response rate. The ad/card will contain a purchase offer and will have 3-5 monthly runs. Anyone know (or know of a web site giving) average response rates for magazines? Any help appreciated, G. Response:
Depending on what type of marketing you do, will determine your response rate. Generally, if you are doing business-to-business marketing, direct mail will have a 1% – 5% depending on your ad design, telemarketing will have a 20% contact ratio with a 10% sales ratio. Using a direct mail & telemarketing campaign in conjunction with each other usually works the best. If you would like to market the home computer user, the Web is definitely the way to go.
