M Roadster Advice
Question:
Hello All, I’m am seriously considering purchasing a 2000 M Roadster. But I have a few questions…. 1) What kind of problems are people experiencing with the car? 2) Understanding that there is less negotiation room on price in this market, what can I expect from a US dealer? 3) The dealer gave me a story about how you can only install the BMW CD changer as the electrical system will not except other units. Anyone care to elaborate on this? 4) Any other advice or insight? Thanx in advance Ray

this hasn;t been updated in a while, but it gives a good idea of what people have been experiencing…nothing real major IMO http://www.mguru.z3world.com/MyM/Mowners.html >2) Understanding that there is less negotiation room on price in this >market, what can I expect from a US dealer?
depends on where you live and the demand…+/- $2k off is a pretty good number >3) The dealer gave me a story about how you can only install the BMW CD >changer as the electrical system will not except other units. Anyone care to >elaborate on this?
there is propietary hardware or software or both with teh BMW changer…i hear there sre some adapters on the market but none that work well…i heard of one guy that got one that said if he had to do it over again he would get the BMW…look in the back of the Roundel and mail order one for $450 or less, install is easy and takes about 30 min >4) Any other advice or insight?
yes…turn off the MIME

Just bought an M Roadster myself. Red with red and black interior. The car is fantastic. I had an Audi TT on order and gave it up at the last minute for the M. Styling is great, as is power and handling. Quality is better than I expected as well. Only low point is that the hk stereo is mediocre at speed. I live in Detroit but bought my car from Deane Wingard at Taylor BMW in Augusta, Georgia. He does a lot of business online with people from all over the U.S. Visit his website at www.taylorbmw.com and e-mail him what you’re looking for. He’ll send you a quote, usually the same day. He’ll likely give you $2k off MSRP. He takes care of everything; you just show up and take delivery of the car. It’s a great experience! PS — Also visit www.mz3.net; it’s a pretty good site by an M owner… – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > This is a multi-part message in MIME format. > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii > Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit > Hello All, > I’m am seriously considering purchasing a 2000 M Roadster. > But I have a few questions…. > 1) What kind of problems are people experiencing with the car? > 2) Understanding that there is less negotiation room on price in this > market, what > can I expect from a US dealer? > 3) The dealer gave me a story about how you can only install the BMW CD > changer > as the electrical system will not except other units.
