Looking for a used car?

Question:

In a message of 30 JUL 98, 15:22:33 GMT, I posted the following as Wilson Motor’s (referenced below) website:                 http://www.cnnw.net/~bwm/ It turns out that this website is NOT that of Wilson Motors, but instead another dealership of similar name, also located on 82nd, called "Brady-Wilson Motors".  Please DO NOT write them with regards to the situation described below.  They’re apparently not the same people. I’ve never personally done business with Brady-Wilson, but I do observe that they have been there a long time (years and years), which most often means, in that industry, that they are "straight up".  All apologies extended to the Brady-Wilson folks for the error. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->I am..  and I found one I liked.  Unfortunately for me it was at Wilson >Motors on 82nd (Portland OR)..  If you enjoy the old-fashioned >strong-arm used-car sales tactics this is the place for you.   >Went in looked at car, made an offer.  We batted a price back and forth >for a while then the "financial guy" comes out to grind a little more.   >I came up $600 from my inital offer then said no more..  The owner (DJ) >then comes out and tries to push me for $1000..Nope sorry, I went home. >Two days later a salesman calls me at home asking if I was still >looking.  I said yes, and that I was still interested in the car I >looked at and asked if it was still available.  He checked and said that >it was still there.  I told him that if they would sell it for my last >offer that I would come down and buy it (my offer was $10,850 to include >the Wynn’s 2 year/24k mile after-market warrenty–the warrently >’wholesales’ for $750 and if you believe the pricesheet they had it cost >them $535).   >He said he would check with DJ (the boss) and hung up.  5 minutes later, >he called back and said DEAL!  I got a friend to drive my other car back >and we went down to pick up the car. >When the salesguy brought out the paperwork, he had the price of the car >at $10,850 but with no warrenty.  When I pointed this out, he went "What >warrenty?"  He took the paperwork to the ‘backroom’ and the a new >’financial guy’ comes out and says that they can’t sell the car for that >price or they would be losing money.  They needed another $235 so they >would "break even". >Needless to say I was not happy.  I thought we had a deal but I was >wrong.  I asked for DJ since he was the owner and was the person I had >made my offers to the previous day.  He came out and it just got worse. >He started off by saying that he looked through the paperwork and didn’t >see anything about a warrenty in my previous offers.  When I held firm >and indicated I wanted the car for the offer I made him; he then asked >"Are you sure you talked to me?" >His final words to me were "Get the F*** out of here, and don’t come >back… you or your friends" >So I thought I’d share my story with my ‘internet friends’ and warn >you.. >Good Luck car shopping >Alex Johnson >Standards Development Manager >Diamond Multimedia
