Heat to Volts – Uses???
Question:
Am with the Small Bus. Dev. Ctr in So.Cal – have a client that has taken NASA technology into the real world – but is a device that does not exist in today’s marketplace. It converts heat into electricity. Put it on the exhaust manifold of a truck and you get neough power for air conditioning. Put it on a woodburning stove and it will power a fan to circulate the air. Generate electricity from bottled gas – directly. Things like this. Devices have been built to demonstrate the use but so far only tinkerers have shown an interest. I’d like to have a contest for the best ideas on how to use the new device. Maybe a trip to San Diego – the zoo, Tijuana, tour of the plant – something like that. Put your imagination to work – see where such a device may be of value to mankind. We are warming the globe with a lot of waste heat. This device could help prolong the good life for us all. Spread the word! At the SBDC we are ready to help the company get financing for manufacturing and marketing if we can discover neat applications. Looking forward to your comments. Sounds like a neat idea. I only see one problem. It seems like this is a product in search of a market. However, all may not be lost. You or the inventor may be able to go to the local library. I’m sure San Diego has some good ones. While there, go to the business reference section. Ask for the Standard Rate and Data Service. I guess you would want to look through the consumer section. You would be looking for magazine listings that cater to the market involved. Obtain one or two of the magazines and look in the classified ads to see if similar items are sold there. I just thought of a magazine you could contact. I don’t even know if they’re still around. "The Mother Earth News" is the magazine I’m thinking of. HTH.
