getting to cuba – flights from Miami?

Question:

Hi, I considering going to cuba for 2 weeks in may from near to toronto. I heard, that a few month ago they started flights going from miami for about 140$ to havanna. Does anybody know anything more specific? Are there ships or ferries going from the US to cuba? I’m searching for the cheapest way to get therer – like greyhound and ferry …. Is it possible to book charterflights toronto- havanna and back havana – calgary or vancouver? thanks for the help, pb.

Youwon’t be able to find anything cheaper than a direct charter from Toronto to Cuba .. believe me … in April you should be able to do it for $400 or $500 .. the Miami/Havana is quite restricted (journalists, writers, people with relatives ..) and the $140 is USD … Keep looking in the Toronto Star or (ugh) Sun .. Saturday travel sections, for sell-offs… Mona

Possible and easy to book charters from Toronto to Havana.  The Toronto papers on the weekend are a great place to try as well as any of the on-line Canadian tour operators.  They also run from Calgary and Vancouver but I think Toronto has more options for flights.  More difficult to fly from Miami than through Toronto. You will not regret going for 2 weeks – it is a wonderful place to visit! Lori

The site is well worth visiting; however, trying to book through this agency is an absolute joke!! I have wasted well over a week trying to get through to these blundering people to book a flight to Cuba. Here is a recount of the past week: Monday, Jan 31 I phone and am told Juri (senior consultant/only one able to book) is away and is returning Tues. I leave my number. Tuesday no call back. I phone in the afternoon and the lady says she misplaced my number. She says Juri will phone right back. Wednesday. She says she passed the message and that he will call right back. Again, no call back. I am totally peeved by now. How can people like this stay in business? They have no customer service skills whatsoever. I end up phoning back twice on Thursday. Finally the same lady says sorry and that he will phone me back within 10 minutes. Nothing. After this ridiculous week I felt compelled to warn others of this outfit. I really have to wonder if they are reputable or not. Advice to all: try to book the ticket yourself by calling the airline directly in Toronto. I did this and I am on my way to Cuba! Nash Travel has soured my taste on ‘travel agencies’.

This site is ok, but I had a similar experience with "Juri" and yes, he seems to be the only person who can help you. What I didn’t like about the site was their "amalgamation of data" which may leave you with the idea that the price of flights is actually all-inclusive. Everybody in Toronto seems to be selling Cuba. Don’t waste your time with being Nashed around. James (who spent his third enjoyable week in Cuba just two weeks ago, not booked through Nash)

Thanks for the tip about nash – I emailed them about two weeks ago and haven’t heard anything back yet. Does anyone know of any other (more efficient) sites I could book a Canada/Cuba trip through? I’m in Australia and don’t have access to the Canadian papers. Cheers Gabriel Before you buy.
