Best way from Pier to JFK after cruise?
Question:
I’ve done several Google searches, can’t find what I need. We dock at 7:00 Am and our flight doesn’t leave until 2:00 PM so I have all kinds of time. I was hoping that the cruiseline would have a city tour on the way to the bus. But no joy. And the cruiseline doesn’t even do *transfers* to JFK. Any suggestions?
Response:
It can easily take a good hour by taxi from the pier to JFK (possibly more if you take a cab to the less expensive Airport Bus) and you probably need to be at JFK 2 hours before your flight. I don’t know how much time it takes from docking till you actually leave the ship (plus waiting for a cab with everyone else). Anyhow, when you factor it all in, I don’t think you have quite as much touring time as you believe.

You can take a cab but I am not sure what that will cost. Another Alternative is Super Shuttle—- http://www.shuttlefinder.net/airport_shuttles/newyork.html Even though the ship docks at 7, you will not get off it at that time. No you don’t have all kinds of time. You won’t be off your ship at 7am, maybe by 9 hopefully. I would plan on being at the airport by noon for a 2pm flight. http://www.ny.com/transportation/airports/JFK.html You may want to consider a car service with perhaps a "drive by" NYC tour??
Response:
My friend has his own limo/car service – he’s friendly and reliable, and is from New York, so his English is better than most of the car service drivers are. I’m sure he could pick you up at the Pier and drive you to the airport with a tour and commentary. His business phone number is: (516) 897 – 0193, ask for Ed.
Response:
Assuming you are off the ship by 8 or 8:30 and you have to get to the airport at noon, you really don’t have a lot of time. Nobody would consider a ride to Kennedy of being less then an hour or so (it may be less, but it could also be much more, so plan on at least an hour), so in reality you have from about 8:30 am to 10:30 am for touring. If you are arriving on a weekday, you will be in traffic for a portion of that, especially if it’s during the convention, then you will be there for hours. I would go for a car service and make a list of a few things you want to see, but don’t plan on enough time for example to go to the top of the Empire state, etc. Do as many as you can, then have them leave for the airport when they need to.
